    About Divine Touch

A local, veteran-owned home improvement company built around trust

Divine Touch Home Improvements LLC is a family-owned, veteran-owned, minority-owned home improvement company based in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Carlos Lara built the company around the values of hard work, attention to detail, clear communication, and respect for every homeowner's space. As an Army veteran and small business owner, Carlos leads a team that takes pride in delivering reliable remodeling, renovation, and home improvement work for homeowners across Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and the surrounding Hampton Roads communities.

We are family-owned, veteran-owned, minority-owned, and locally owned and operated. Our team speaks both English and Spanish, which makes it easier for every homeowner to feel comfortable from the very first conversation. We treat every project - whether it is a kitchen remodel, a bathroom remodel, a full home renovation, or a small home improvement - with the same level of care, the same standard of craftsmanship, and the same commitment to clear communication. Our goal is simple: leave each home better than we found it, and leave every homeowner glad they hired Divine Touch.

    How Divine Touch started

Carlos Lara started Divine Touch Home Improvements in April 2019, in Virginia Beach, after serving in the United States Army. Military work leaves you with habits that turn out to matter a great deal on a job site: you show up at the time you said, you do the prep nobody sees, you check the work before someone else has to, and you own the mistake instead of explaining around it. Those habits are the whole basis of how this company runs.

The company has been working in Hampton Roads since 2019, and almost everything we do is within a short drive of the shop at 424 Investors Place in Virginia Beach. That is deliberate. Staying local means we know the housing stock here - the 1960s ranches in Kempsville, the older homes in Ghent and Olde Towne, the newer construction out toward Red Mill - and we know how coastal humidity and salt air treat a bathroom fan, a fence post, or a roof edge over ten years. It also means that if something needs a second look after we finish, we are twenty minutes away rather than two states away.

Divine Touch is family-owned and minority-owned, and the whole team works in English and Spanish. That is not a marketing line - it changes how projects actually go. A homeowner who can ask a question about tile layout or a change in scope in the language they think in makes better decisions, catches misunderstandings earlier, and ends up happier with the result. We have had plenty of projects where a five-minute conversation in Spanish prevented a mistake that would have cost days.

    What We Stand For

    Veteran-Owned

Founded by an Army veteran who brings discipline and pride to every job.

    Family-Owned

We treat your home like family, because that's how we'd want ours treated.

    Locally Operated

Based in Virginia Beach, serving the homeowners in our own community.

    Bilingual Service

Comfortable communication in English and Spanish from day one.

    What we stand behind

Values are easy to write and hard to check. These are the operational commitments we make on every project, in plain language, so you can hold us to them.

    Workmanship standards

Substrate before surface. Tile goes over a flattened subfloor and, where the span calls for it, an uncoupling membrane. Wet walls get cement board and a waterproofing layer, not painted drywall. Fence posts are set in concrete below frost depth. If we open a wall and find rot, failed framing, or a plumbing problem, we stop, photograph it, and show you before we cover it back up.

    Cleanup and daily site care

Floors along the work path get protected before tools come in, and we use plastic containment and negative-air fans on demolition where dust would otherwise travel through the house. At the end of each working day the site is swept, tools are stacked out of the way, and debris is bagged or in the dumpster. Living areas outside the work zone should look untouched.

    Communication cadence

You get one point of contact, a start date in writing, and an update at the end of each working day or week depending on the length of the job - what got done, what is next, and anything we found. If a delivery slips or an inspection pushes the schedule, you hear it from us the same day, not when you notice the crew is not there.

    How change orders work

Nothing outside the signed scope gets done, and nothing gets billed, until you approve it in writing. If we hit a surprise behind a wall, we price the fix, explain the options including doing nothing, and wait for your answer. Verbal add-ons during a walkthrough get written down and confirmed before the next work day, so the invoice at the end matches what you already agreed to.

    After the final walk-through

We walk the finished project with you and build a punch list of anything that is not right - a caulk line, a sticking drawer, a touch-up. Those items get scheduled and closed out, not left open. Manufacturer warranties on materials get handed to you in writing along with product information, so you know what is covered and by whom.

    Credentials

One verified entry and the specifics we are in the process of publishing. We would rather leave a blank visible than print something we have not confirmed.

    Built around trust

We know that inviting a contractor into your home is a big deal. That is why our work is built around clear communication, fair and transparent pricing, and craftsmanship that holds up over time. We take time to listen, walk the space, and understand what you actually need before we start talking about scope or budget. We want every Divine Touch project - from a single bathroom refresh to a full home renovation - to leave Hampton Roads homeowners proud of their space and confident in who they hired.

    Talk to Carlos

There is no obligation attached to the estimate. Carlos or someone from the team will walk the space with you, ask what is actually bothering you about the room, and give you an honest read on scope and sequence before anyone talks numbers. If the job is smaller than you thought, we will tell you that too.
