01 /Kitchen Remodeling
Kitchens that work harder and look better
Layout changes, custom cabinets, quartz and granite counters, tile backsplashes, flooring, lighting, and fixtures. We plan the kitchen around how your family actually cooks and gathers, not around a showroom photo. In older Hampton Roads homes that usually means correcting out-of-square walls and unlevel floors before a single cabinet goes up, which is the part that decides whether the finished run of uppers reads straight from across the room.

02 /Bathroom Remodeling
Modern, comfortable bathroom updates
Walk-in showers, soaking tubs, custom vanities, tile work, flooring, lighting, ventilation, and fixture upgrades - our bathroom remodeling work is built around comfort, storage, and daily use. Whether you are modernizing an older primary bath in Virginia Beach, adding a curbless shower in Chesapeake, or refreshing a small powder room in Norfolk, we keep the project clean, on schedule, and easy to follow from the first walk-through to the final punch list. Bathroom renovations are one of the most impactful updates a homeowner can make, and we focus on the waterproofing, finishes, and details that hold up for years.

Built around trust, communication, and quality craftsmanship.
Reliable Craftsmanship
Carlos Lara and the Divine Touch team take pride in the small details - clean lines, square trim, level tile, smooth drywall, and finishes that still look right years from now. Your home deserves remodeling and home improvement work done the right way the first time, and we treat every kitchen, bathroom, and renovation project like it belongs to our own family.
Clear Communication
We keep you informed at every step in English or Spanish, from the first walk-through to the final punch list, so there are no surprises about scope, schedule, or cost. You always know who is in your home, what is happening that day, and what comes next, which is exactly how we would want a contractor to treat us.
Locally Trusted
Divine Touch is veteran-owned, family-owned, minority-owned, and locally operated right here in Virginia Beach. We are proud to serve our Hampton Roads neighbors in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, and Portsmouth, and we stand behind every remodeling and home improvement project we complete.

Every photo below is a home we worked in. Kitchens and baths make up most of what we do, but we also handle flooring, roofing, and fencing, which matters in a region where the same house often needs interior and exterior work in the same year. Look closely at the tile lines, the cabinet reveals, and the transitions between rooms, because that is where a remodel is either done right or covered up.

Kitchen remodel with a granite waterfall island, full-height cabinet runs, and vinyl plank flooring rated for humidity swings.

Bathroom rebuilt from the studs out with a waterproofed shower pan, freestanding tub, and a fan sized to actually clear steam.

Custom range hood surround with a marble backsplash, scribed to an out-of-square wall in an older Hampton Roads home.

Open-concept renovation joining kitchen and living space, with one continuous floor and no thresholds between rooms.
BeforeBefore: an original tub-shower combo with failing grout, water-stained surround, and a vanity past saving.
AfterAfter: the same bathroom with a tiled walk-in shower, new vanity, and a floor laid flat over a corrected subfloor.

Our Process
Simple, Honest, Stress-Free
Most remodeling complaints come from surprises, not craftsmanship. We run the same five stages on every job so you always know what happens next, who is in your home, and what it costs before anyone starts demolition.
Reach Out
Call (757) 731-4151 or fill out our contact form to share a few details about your project, your home, and the improvements you have in mind. The more you can tell us up front about your kitchen, bathroom, or whole-home goals, the better prepared we can be for our first visit.
Consultation
Carlos or a member of the Divine Touch team will visit your home in Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, or Portsmouth, walk the space with you, take measurements, and listen carefully to your goals, your timeline, and your budget. This is also where we answer questions and offer practical suggestions.
Estimate & Plan
You receive a clear written estimate with scope, materials, and a realistic timeline. No pressure, no surprise charges, and no hidden costs. We walk through the plan with you in English or Spanish so you understand exactly what is included before any work begins.
Quality Build
Our team delivers the project with care from start to finish, keeping your home clean and protected, communicating about progress along the way, and standing behind the finished work. When the project is done, we walk it with you to make sure every detail meets the standard you expected.
Walk-Through & Follow-Up
We walk the finished project with you room by room and write down anything that still needs attention, then handle it before we consider the job closed. After that we stay reachable. If a door sticks after the first humid stretch or a caulk line needs attention a few months later, call us and we will come look at it.

About the owner
Carlos Lara, owner and Army veteran
Divine Touch Home Improvements was founded in April 2019 in Virginia Beach by Carlos Lara, a U.S. Army veteran. Carlos runs the estimates himself, which means the person who walks your kitchen and writes your scope is the same person accountable when a cabinet run does not land the way it was drawn.
The company is family-owned, veteran-owned, and minority-owned, and the whole team works in English and Spanish. That matters on a remodel: decisions about tile layout, outlet placement, and door swings get made mid-job, and they go better when nobody is guessing at what the other person meant.

What areas does Divine Touch Home Improvements serve?
We serve homeowners throughout Hampton Roads from our office in Virginia Beach, including Virginia Beach, Chesapeake, Norfolk, and Portsmouth. If you are nearby and not sure whether your address is in our service area, give us a call and we will let you know.
What types of home improvement projects do you handle?
Divine Touch handles kitchen remodeling, bathroom remodeling, full home renovations, interior remodeling, and general home improvements such as painting, trim, flooring, drywall repair, lighting, and fixture upgrades. We work on both small projects and whole-home renovations for residential homeowners.
Does Divine Touch offer kitchen and bathroom remodeling?
Yes. Kitchen remodeling and bathroom remodeling are two of our most requested services. We help homeowners with cabinets, countertops, tile, flooring, lighting, fixtures, layout changes, walk-in showers, vanities, and the finishing details that bring it all together.
Can you help with full home renovations?
Yes. We manage full home renovations and multi-room remodeling projects from start to finish, including kitchens, bathrooms, flooring, paint, trim, and layout updates. For larger renovations we plan the work in clear phases and keep you informed throughout.
Is Divine Touch Home Improvements veteran-owned?
Yes. Divine Touch was founded by Carlos Lara, an Army veteran, and is family-owned, veteran-owned, minority-owned, and locally owned and operated in Virginia Beach. We are proud of our roots in the Hampton Roads community.
Does Divine Touch speak Spanish?
Yes. Our team is fully bilingual in English and Spanish, so we can communicate clearly with every homeowner we work with, from the first call through the final walk-through.
How do I request an estimate?
Call (757) 731-4151 during business hours or fill out our online contact form. Share a few details about your project, the room or rooms involved, and your goals, and we will follow up to schedule a consultation in your home.
What are your business hours?
Divine Touch Home Improvements is available Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Messages received outside of those hours are returned the next business day.
What happens at the first visit?
We come out, measure, look at what is behind the finishes where we can, and send a written scope that lists materials and the work included. There's no obligation to move forward. If we think a project is a bad idea or better handled by a specialty trade, we will say so instead of quoting it.
How long does a kitchen or bathroom remodel take?
A straightforward bathroom is usually a couple of weeks of on-site work once materials are on hand, and a kitchen typically runs longer because of cabinet lead times, countertop templating, and appliance delivery. Layout changes that move plumbing or electrical add time, and so do permit inspections. We give you a realistic schedule in writing before we start, and we tell you when something slips.
Are you licensed and insured?
Divine Touch Home Improvements LLC is a licensed and insured Virginia contractor. Our license number is [VA CLASS __ CONTRACTOR LICENSE #] and our general liability coverage is carried through [INSURANCE CARRIER]. Ask for a copy at the estimate and we will hand it to you. You should ask this of every contractor who bids your job, not just us.
Do I need a permit for my remodel?
It depends on the work. Cosmetic updates like cabinets, countertops, flooring, and paint generally do not require a permit, while moving plumbing or electrical, altering framing, or replacing a roof usually does. Virginia Beach and Chesapeake each run their own permit office with their own inspection scheduling. When your project needs a permit, we pull it and meet the inspector.
Do you take small jobs?
Yes. A single bathroom, one room of flooring, a fence section knocked down by a storm, drywall and trim repair, or a fixture swap are all normal work for us. Small jobs are how most of our larger renovations start, and we do not price them as a favor or an afterthought.
How does Hampton Roads weather affect material choices?
Humidity and salt air are real factors here. We steer homeowners toward moisture-tolerant flooring in bathrooms and on slab-on-grade floors, properly sized bath ventilation, exterior-grade fasteners near the water, and paint and caulk systems rated for the exposure. A finish that performs fine inland can fail early a few miles from the Bay, so we choose for where your house actually sits.
